Red Vein Removal

Red Vein Removal

Red Vein Treatment (Nd YAG Only)

* Course of 1-3 treatments

* Range of vascular lesions including facial and thread veins and leg veins

How does the treatment work?

The intense light targets the blood within the vessels and removes it by heating the blood and dispersing it by the process of photothermolysis.

Thread Vein Treatment
(using Nd YAG)

This condition is also called broken veins, dilated capillaries, red veins or thread veins. Various treatments are available depending on the severity of the condition.

"There are a number of reasons why broken veins develop - at The Sussex Beauty Clinic, we can help..."

Possible causes:

The skin is a medium of temperature control, so when we are very hot the capillaries dilate to release heat & constrict to conserve heat, so when this process happens too often the elasticity in the capillary walls is lost resulting in dilated capillaries.

There are so many causes of broken veins eg circulatory disorders, blackhead removal around the nose area, diet/food, hormones, pregnancy, heredity, extremes of temperature, the clothes we wear, sporting activities, smoking and sunlight.

How does Bio-MEDICAL Laser work?

There is a choice of both IPL and Nd YAG Lasers and after a FREE consultation with our specialist she will advise you as to which Laser would be suitable for the removal of your red veins.  Leg veins are normally treated with Nd YAG Laser where as IPL tends to be more effective on facial thread veins and rosacea.  IPL Laser releases precisely controlled strong pulses of filtered light that are absorbed by the targeted blood vessel, heating it to a point where it is destroyed. Following treatment the vessels quickly clear and are re-absorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original thread vein. The light impacts the vein without damaging the surrounding tissue which makes this a safe and effective procedure.

How is the treatment carried out?

You will be asked to put on goggles to protect your eyes. A layer of cold gel is applied to the area which helps guide the light into the skin. The light applicator is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released. The applicator is then moved to the neighbouring area and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. The chilled gel is removed and the area cooled down and moisturised.  Also there should be no sun exposure 30 days pre and post treatment.  It is recommended to use a sunscreen minimum SPF30 for 30 days following each treatment.

How does the treatment feel?
No anaesthesia is required and most patients describe the discomfort as moderate and acceptable. Sensations may vary but most describe it as a heat sensation.

Any side effects?

Redness and a warm sensation are normal after treatment. A cool pack may be applied to ease these symptoms. The vessels should fade quickly, and some disappear immediately.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatments typically take 20-30 mins depending on the type and size of the area.

How many treatments are needed?

Typically 1-5 treatments are needed for maximum results spaced approximately every 6 weeks.
