ABOUT ALLUZIENCE

Alluzience is an advanced botulinum toxin-a new wrinkle-relaxing injection launched by Galderma (the world’s largest independent dermatology company). This innovative injection, which is the very first ready-to-use liquid neurotoxin in the UK has a registered trademark and was created by Ipsen. It is used to smooth stubborn upper facial lines and folds, which include improving the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (vertical lines between the eyebrows), otherwise known as frown lines. 

Unlike other BoNT-A products that require dilution with sodium chloride before they can be used, Alluzience allows for more precision with safe dosage accuracy because it doesn’t require any calculations. It is also free from human and animal-derived proteins such as human serum albumin and lactose because it is produced with novel production technologies. 

HOW DOES ALLUZIENCE WORK?

Alluzience injections are aesthetic medicines that stop the contraction of targeted muscles by blocking the transport of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine across the neuromuscular junction, located between the nerve end and the muscle fibre.

Unlike other standard botulinum toxin brands which take about 7-14 days to have visible effects, Alluzience kick-starts work as soon as 24 hours after injection.

For the lasting span, Alluzience lasts up to 6 months before a patient would be due for another session. This is another benefit it has over other botulinum toxins, as they last only three to four months before another session.

THE QUICKER ONSET OF ACTION

ALLUZIENCE SIDE EFFECTS

Just like every other medicine, injection, or surgery, there are some side effects, although not applicable to everyone. These side effects include;

PAIN

Alluzience can be more painful to inject than other botulinum toxins, but the pain is usually not more than at the time of injection. Those who have fear of needles or a low pain threshold may because of this, want to explore other botulinum toxin options. But alluzience results? Definitely worth the mild pain!

INJECTION SITES REACTIONS 

These reactions, which are seemingly normal includes; bruising, pain, tingling, itching, swelling, discomfort, irritation and redness. 

You should inform your doctor about any of these experiences to get medical advice.

HEADACHE 

Headache is one of the most frequently reported side effects of alluzience injections. This is quite normal and can last for a few hours or a day after the injection. Anything more than that should be reported to your doctor for a relief prescription. 

SWOLLEN, DROOPY OR DRY EYES 

Another side effect that may arise with alluzience is swollen, droopy or dry eyes. Although this side effect is common, it should not be taken with levity because it may cause corneal disorders. Ointments and protective drops can be used for this, as prescribed by the doctor. 

FACIAL PARALYSIS

Patients may experience temporary facial paralysis if the injection is around the eye area. This is often temporary but should be discussed with your doctor. 

DIFFICULTY BREATHING, SWALLOWING OR SPEAKING

This is one of the side effects that should be taken seriously and reported as an emergency because it may lead to death. However, it is very uncommon. 

RED/ITCHY BUMPY RASH

This side effect usually suggests an allergic reaction to alluzience and should be treated as an emergency.
